Hi, I’m Chris Thornton from Thornsoft Development, Inc. I’m the author of ClipMate, a popular clipboard extender for Windows, and I’ve been selling it online since 1991. What’s this site?
This site discusses the Windows Clipboard. It will eventually cover everything from basic copying and pasting by end users, to the finer points of developing clipboard-aware programs.
Who are we?
Back in 1991, we developed ClipMate, the first Clipboard Extender for Microsoft Windows 3.0. Since then, we’ve been steadily improving the program, accomodating new versions of Windows, working around idiosyncracies with other programs, and all the while, gaining more and more users. Began as a sideline hobby, now we’re a full-time company, devoted to delivering the best clipboard tool to our diverse user base. To find out more, read The ClipMate Story.

I came across your site when trying to figure out how to disable the Office clipboard (Windows and Office 2007) after it suddenly (overnight) started preventing my copying files (“Item not collected. Format not supported by Office Clipboard.” or something close to that) This happened not in copying things within a program, such as text in Word, but in Windows Explorer, using the “Organize” menu on the toolbar, or even just using Ctrl C. Anyway, I have (I hope) disabled it to a point where is will not just come on again when I start up, but I was interested in finding out about your clipboard software, and also if you (as the clipboard expert) can tell me why mine freaked out.
Is Clipmate in Retail Stores anywhere in Seattle?
Without using a CC can I purchase Clipmate through you?
I tried but your check out would not let me go there. CC only.
